I bought my firebird right after graduating high school, right before starting college in Jan 99. I was searching for a V8 extensively and could not find anything that pleased me. Eventually I ran into my car, it was in such mint condition I just fell in love. I bought it right then. For the first year that I had it nothing much went on, I had a blast just driving the car stock and learning its ways. I installed a nice stereo system and a muffler just for fun. When the second year came around the urge for more power grew stronger, I did every single bolt on available for the car and the car responded well but still not what I wished for. So my mind wandered to forced induction. I ran an 85 shot of nitrous and had some bad luck in the beginning and blew a motor pretty quick. The new motor came from a 95 camaro with 10k less miles then my car had and it ran stronger then my original. I ran the nitrous on that motor for a year without problems. During that year I also had the opportunity to pick up the rare NRT engine package which made the engine really wake up on the top end. Shortly after that I grew tired of the nitrous and sold it in hopes of making my turbo dreams come true. Ever since I bought the car I had dreamt of turbocharging it... so I saved up some cash. During the summer of 2002, after months of careful planning and design work, I collected all the parts and it all came together over the course of one week. A custom intercooled turbo system that took my beast from the humble N/A time of 15.7 @ 87 to my new best of 13.5 @ 107. This run was on 10 psi of boost. I am extremely happy with how it all came together for now, but plans for improvements are always in the works. Forged internals, more nitrous and a bigger cam are all coming soon.
