My Camaro has had three distinct purposes in its life, be loud, be pretty, and be fast.
Only two days after I bought it I began to modify it. The first objective was to win in USAC 0-150 Outlaw SPL. So I removed the factory monsoon stereo in favor of a Panasonic head and 3 sets of MTX components driven by factory amp. I added an MTX 2150x amp, 1 Farad stiffening cap, 4 gauge Streetwires kit, and MTX 6000 sub. And just to show off I installed a TV in the sun visor and Playstation in the glove box. The stereo hit 142.9 db, allowing me to compete in USAC world finals, where I learn not to pick on the big boys until you have at least a $10,000 to drop on a stereo.
Next was car show competitions, I started dressing up the body with clear DRL’s, custom flames, rear Camaro inserts, and a Camaro SS hood. I placed in a few shows, but again money equals trophies.
Finally I wanted it to go fast, I started by adding a K&N filter, shaving the airbox, and dual Flowmaster exhaust. I then added a 180* thermostat, Accel 9000 wires, NGK TR6 plugs, Catco Cat, 3.42 limited slip differential, fuel pressure gauge, air/fuel ratio gauge, nitrous pressure gauge, and a custom nitrous setup with purge kit currently running a 75 shot. Oddly enough the car is only running 15’s, hopefully it will be in the 13’s someday.
